I got invited to the first annual Downtown Orlando Fashion Week this year and I was very excited to attend. The week was 3 days long however I was only able to make the Friday show. It was held at Club Touch downtown which was a very intimate and chic venue. Some of the designers that showcased were Jcagua, Tinkas Closet, Habari, Trish Green, and Vaux Couture. I thought the show was great for it being their first time because I have been to tons of shows and I have definitely seen my share of bad ones. I got to chat with Michael Ransom about his inspiration for putting on Downtown Orlando Fashion Week and he told me he wanted to bring more fashion to Orlando. He also stated he wanted to give local designers an outlet to showcase their designs and give back to the community by having proceeds benefit charity. This year's beneficiary was the Harbor House who assist pregnant teenagers by providing housing and counseling. Also he made sure to credit his partner Sary Vazquez who he said without her the show could not have been possible. Word on the street is that they are already planning for next years show. Kudos to them!To see my pics from the show click here.
